ZONARE MEDICAL SYSTEMS TO EXPAND EUROPEAN PRESENCE
New Entity to Market World’s First Convertible Ultrasound™ System throughout Germany, Switzerland and Austria.
Geneva, Switzerland – September 26, 2005 – ZONARE Medical Systems, a developer of next-generation ultrasound technology, announced the opening of the company’s new affiliate, ZONARE Medical Systems GmbH, at the seventeenth annual European Congress of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology today. The new entity will market and service ZONARE’s z.one ultrasound unit, the world’s first Convertible Ultrasound system, throughout Germany, Switzerland and Austria.
“The z.one system is based on revolutionary new Zone Sonography™ technology which has made it possible to offer a two-in-one ultrasound system that converts from a full-featured cart to a premium compact unit,” said Andrea Franke, Managing Director, ZONARE Medical Systems GmbH. “This is an excellent imaging solution for our market and provides much needed versatility in helping to diagnose patients, especially the sickest which shouldn’t be moved just for the sake of an ultrasound exam.”
ZONARE’s affiliate will be located in Erlangen, Germany. Franke and other key members of the organization are long-time ultrasound professionals with more than 50 collective years of experience including start-up operations for both Acuson and SonoSite in Germany, Switzerland and Austria.
The z.one system is based on revolutionary Zone Sonography technology. This new architecture has allowed ZONARE Medical Systems to bring the first Convertible Ultrasound™ platform to the industry with superb image quality at a substantial price to value ratio. Clinicians are able to instantly convert the z.one platform from a full-featured, cart-based system into a premium compact, ultrasound system with all the performance of substantially larger and more expensive ultrasound units, yet, with greater portability and clinical flexibility than conventional compact systems.
Combining a fundamentally new advance in ultrasound, Zone Sonography technology coupled with the z.one platform’s radically new physical design provides the maximum flexibility offering significant clinical and workflow solutions for a wide variety of customer challenges. The z.one platform’s Zone Sonography software-based architecture ensures that its performance will increase as improvements in processing power become available. This allows for fast, convenient upgrades in clinical capabilities, keeping clinicians at the forefront of diagnostic capabilities as well as protecting their investment. With ZONARE’s latest release, upgrades can now be downloaded via the internet, an industry first.
