ZONARE SHOWCASES NEXT GENERATION PREMIUM CONVERTIBLE ULTRASOUND™ PLATFORM AT ASA
New z.one ultra System Aids in Precise Delivery of Anesthesiology with Premium Image Quality and Workflow Efficiencies
Mountain View, Calif. – October 16, 2007 – ZONARE Medical Systems, a developer of premium ultrasound systems, announced it is showcasing the new z.one ultra system, the company’s next generation premium Convertible Ultrasound™ platform, at the annual American Society of Anesthesiology (ASA) meeting being held October 13 – 17, 2007 in San Francisco. Based on Zone Sonography™ technology, the z.one ultra system features advanced software, hardware and transducer technology. Whether in its fully-featured, cart-based configuration or converted to the system’s premium compact portable unit, the z.one ultra system offers excellent value, workflow efficiencies and image quality.
“Safe and precise delivery of regional anesthesia demands uncompromising ultrasound image quality,” said Chris Chiang, MD, assistant professor of Anesthesiology and Critical Care, University of Illinois at Chicago. “The z.one ultra system provides premium imaging quality, penetration and performance for ultrasound – guided anesthesia. It also offers superb contrast resolution at a variety of depths, enhancing the ability to safely and precisely reach target tissue.”
Zone Sonography technology has enabled ZONARE Medical Systems to bring its unique, patented Convertible Ultrasound platform to the industry providing premium image quality and performance together with greater portability at an attractive price to value ratio compared to other ultrasound systems. Clinicians are able to convert the z.one system, at the touch of a button, from a full-featured, cart-based system into a premium compact ultrasound system, optimizing its versatility in a variety of clinical settings, without sacrificing image quality or performance.
“The compact, ergonomic nature of the system and ability to convert to a premium compact, hand-held unit provides greater portability which is especially helpful in line access procedures,” said Chiang. “In addition, the system is easy to use. Automatic optimization features, such as Auto-Opt with ZST, help to better reveal the anatomical characteristic of individual patients at the touch of a button. This, along with customizable and automated features specifically designed for anesthesia, significantly increases workflow efficiencies versus other systems.”
The z.one system’s Zone Sonography software-based architecture allows its performance to continue to improve as greater processing power becomes available. System upgrades can be downloaded via the internet, allowing for fast, convenient advances in clinical capabilities, enabling clinicians to cost-effectively maintain a state of the art premium ultrasound system.
“The upgradeability of the z.one system is extremely important in maintaining state-of-the-art imaging technology for our patients and maximizing our investment dollars as future enhancements are developed,” said Chiang. “Additionally, the fast boot up time and long battery life of the system adds to increased workflow.”
Also according to Chiang, the large 19 inch LCD display of the z.one ultra system allows clinicians to view ultrasound images easily from across the room. In addition, Chiang believes the system’s low profile, as well as the robust portfolio of transducers for neck, legs and spine, makes the ultra an excellent imaging solution for the anesthesia clinical environment.
ZONARE will also feature its z.one mini system at the ASA conference. Where space and economics are an issue, ZONARE’s z.one mini system weighs only 110 pounds in its cart-based configuration and provides not only convenience but functionality as well. It is a customized, ergonomic mobile platform that holds and secures the z.one system’s scan engine when space is tight and a cart is needed. Far more than just a piece of “furniture,” the z.one mini system offers a full-sized keyboard, for easy annotation and patient data entry. In addition, clinicians are provided with a unique touch screen interface when the z.one scan engine is integrated with the fully-featured mini cart. The z.one scan engine is interchangeable between both the z.one ultra and mini systems.
